The growth and success of Coldwell Banker Advantage is a great story and we are thrilled that Real Estate Magazine chose to feature us on the cover of their March issue.

This type of attention is incredible and rewarding to our staff, agents and thousands of clients who have been part of our journey for the last 40 years or so.

Our CEO Gary Rabon started in real estate in the mid-1980’s with his own Raleigh-based small real estate firm. He grew the company and eventually merged with other independent firms and joined Coldwell Banker in 1991 to create Coldwell Banker Advantage.

The growth of our company coincided with the explosion of interest in the Research Triangle.  We expanded operations over the years and now have 13 local offices stretching to such well-known communities as Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill to Creedmoor, Henderson and Lake Gaston.

As our region grew, so did other parts of the Carolinas which led to Coldwell Banker Advantage joining forces in several other Coldwell Banker companies to great the third largest Coldwell Banker company in the world with 1,400 agents working in 44 offices. Raleigh, where we now have 350 agents, is one of five regions including Fayetteville, South Pines, Wilmington and Myrtle Beach.

Last year, the combined company helped clients with more than 16,000 home sales which added up to over $3.7 billion in sales volume. Coldwell Banker Advantage now ranks as the largest company in the Carolinas and one of the top 50 largest real estate companies in the nation.

The benefit to our clients is that we can easily help them move inside our Carolinas presence while also exposing their home to prospective buyers nationally and globally through Coldwell Banker. Our size and scope also allows us to invest in resources that help our agents best serve their clients.

The Real Estate Magazine article touches on how our company has remained true to its roots of providing outstanding service, treating people well and participating in the community.

“We have some unwritten rules,” Gary Rabon told reporter Maria Patterson. “Do the right thing; do whatever is best for the client and treat others like you want to be treated. We really push our agents to get involved in the community and help others.”

As an example, when Hurricane Florence decimated the region, agents and staff rushed to help by sending trucks of supplies and cash donations to assist displaced agents and clients.

The continuous growth of Coldwell Banker Advantage is based on three principals:the importance of relationships, communication and constantly evolving:

  • Relationships: Gary pointed out in the article that the company’s size doesn’t really matter because of the relationship he has with the agents. “I pride myself that we’re out in the offices with agents constantly,” he said. “I know most agents on a first-name basis…we value the relationship with all of them, and we want them to know that.”
  • Communication: Gary and his leadership team always pay attention to the agents who are the “feet on the street.”  “We listen to what their needs are. We ask, ‘What can we do better and how can we help? Agents know they can give us constructive criticism.”
  • Constantly Evolving: Coldwell Banker Advantage believes in thought leadership and was the first to bring Alexa and Google Home real estate voice search to the Carolinas.  “Never stop learning…every day, every week. If you stop growing, you’re shrinking,” Gary said. “Our new Triangle Real Estate voice search skill is a great example. If you look at the number one product purchased this past holiday season, it was the Amazon Echo. Fifty percent of searches by 2020 will be on voice and 14 percent of consumers are investigating home value information on voice. We’re investing where the consumer is going.”

The Real Estate Magazine exposure is exciting for us and we wanted to share it with you.
